Itinerary Overview

Discover and experience the best of hidden gems in the pearl of Africa with this 9 Days Discover Uganda Safari as you encounter primates; Chimps & Gorillas as well as tick off part of the big 4 in savanna parks as you get chance to encounter the big cats such as lion & leopards plus other wildlife like elephants, buffalos, hippos and crocodiles. This safari gives you an opportunity to trek in Kibale Forest NP; “the primate city” to meet human close cousins the chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth NP for remarkable game drives, a rewarding boat trip on the famous Kazinga channel, a game drive in the South of Queen Elizabeth NP; Ishasha Sector in search for tree climbing and Bwindi Impenetrable NP for the magnificent Mountain Gorillas which is also a highlight for our 9 Days Discover Uganda Safari.

The trip also offers a community experience and scenic views of Lake Bunyonyi to relax and reflect on the good memories of the safari before we proceed to Lake Mburo for a unique safari walk experience in the park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up, Transfer To Hotel In Entebbe

When you land, our guide will be ready to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe ahead of your safari. On this day, you can explore Entebbe town by visiting some art and craft markets, shopping malls and taking a walk in the botanical gardens.

Day 2: Transfer To Kibale Forest NP

After an early breakfast, we shall start our journey to Kibale Forest NP. It is a long drive of about 5hrs so we shall have lunch in Fort Portal town and continue for an evening around the crater. Along the journey we shall go through typical African village setup in the far countryside and tea plantations. In the craters, we have a chance to spot monkey species such as black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking, Transfer To Queen Elizabeth NP, Twin Lakes Walk

After our breakfast, we shall drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of Chimpanzee trekking. We shall be allocated a trekking group and ranger then start our trek into the forest to search for human closest cousins. While in the jungle you have a chance to spot butterflies and bird species such as the native Great blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long tailed cuckoo and the superb black bee eater. 

After the trek, we shall have lunch and start our journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. As we drive, we shall be able to spot Mountain Rwenzori ranges; the longest in Africa. We shall arrive at the lodge in the afternoon and prepare for a community walk to see the lifestyle of the local people in the village, farming among other activities and visiting the beautiful twin lakes.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive, Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, we shall drive out to experience Queen Elizabeth National Park, with a chance to encounter  Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Leopards, warthogs, Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many other species that are reside in this park as we drive along. Be prepared for a rich bird life especially the storks in the wetland as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes. After the game drive, we shall drive back to the lodge for lunch as we prepare for a rewarding boat trip on the famous Kazinga channel, which links Lake George to Lake Edward.

During the boat trip, you have a chance to spot both land and water adapted Hippopotamuses yawning with some slashing canines to each other, the Nile Crocodiles along the banks, Warthog. Along the peninsula you have a stunning view of birds and animals that come to swim, sunbathe and quench their thirst.

Day 5: Transfer To Ishasha Sector, Afternoon Game Drive

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast ahead of our journey to the southern of Queen Elizabeth NP; Ishasha sector. Along the journey, we have a chance to encounter elephants, monkeys, beautiful birds and even big cats like lions and leopard. We arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and then prepare to head out for a game drive in search for tree climbing lions that can be spotted lazily sleeping the fig trees. During the game drive we also have chance to see topis, buffaloes and lovely scenery.

Ishasha Wilderness Camp 

Day 6: Morning Ishasha Game Drive, Transfer To Bwindi

After our breakfast, we shall drive back to the park to search for interesting sights we might have missed in the previous safari. After the game drive we drive back to the lodge for lunch and then start our journey to Bwindi Forest NP which is home of the magnificent   mountain gorillas. We shall enjoy a relaxation by the lodge

Buhoma Lodge 

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Day, Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi

After our breakfast, we shall drive to the park headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. It is at this point that we shall be allocated a trekking group and ranger guide to start our journey into the forest. The forest is full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hogs, forest Elephants, Statungas and Dikers which you will encounter during your trek. After meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed one hour as you watch them in their natural habitat.  After the trek we shall have lunch and transfer to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi   driving through cultivated hills.

Day 8: Transfer To Lake Mburo, Afternoon Game Drive

After a hot cup of tea or coffee, we shall leave the scenic   island behind and start our journey to Lake Mburo National Park driving through the Hilly areas. We shall arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, drive in to the park for a game drive with chances to spot  zebras, giraffes, topis, warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 9:  Morning Safari Walk, Shoebill Stork, Transfer To Entebbe Airport

In the morning, we shall head to the park for a safari walk with chance to see zebras, waterbucks, birds and impalas go about   their morning routine in the jungle. It is such a unique experience that brings you closer to nature. Return to the lodge for breakfast and prepare to start our journey to Entebbe. Along the journey, we shall make a stop at Mabamba Swamp to search for the Great Shoebill in a small boat searching the channels of the swamp. After this experience, we shall connect to Entebbe in time for our flight as we have come to the end of our 9 Days Discover Uganda safari.
