Overview
The 10 days Uganda safari combines adrenaline adventures in Jinja and wildlife encounters in the National Parks. The activities this safari covers include white water rafting on the Nile River Jinja, game drives in Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park (at Ishasha sector), mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park and swamp/nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The safari to explore Uganda starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe city.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Jinja- Ssezibwa Waterfalls tour
A warm welcome to the Pearl of Africa from your driver guide on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. After, drive from Entebbe via Kampala to Jinja via Mbale route, with expected stopover to be made at Ssezibwa waterfalls. Later, connect to Jinja via Mabira Forest and on arrival, settle at the lodge for relaxation, lunch (if you didn’t have it). In the evening, you will have the best of a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria (optional).
Day 2: Enjoy half day rafting experience, drive back to Kampala
Leave the lodge for briefing about white water rafting on Nile River and after, you will have half day to experience the tough rapids and grades. After, return to be served lunch at the lodge and meet the driver for transfer back to Kampala for overnight stay.
Day 3: Kampala-Wildlife trip to Murchison Falls NP
Pick up from your respective hotels after breakfast then you transfer to Murchison Falls NP located in the Northwestern part of Uganda. First, drive for about 4 hours to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos 2 hours’ on-foot walk experience and later, connect to have lunch and refreshment in Masindi town. Enter Murchison Falls NP via the Southern gate- Kichumbanyobo gate and drive to the Northern bank to check into the lodge for overnight stay.
Day 4: One game drive via Northern bank, boat trip
Rise up early, take breakfast and next meet the driver fit for your early morning game drive taking 2-3 hours leading you through the Northern banks of Murchison Falls NP. In your pop up roof vehicle, enjoy uninterrupted animal views in the savannas such as giraffes, elephants, cape buffaloes, lions, leopards, the Jackson hartebeests, Kobs, waterbucks, oribis, etc.
In the afternoon, lunch and relaxation at the lodge, then end the day with unforgettable boat cruise to the base of the falls. In the shallow waters of the Victoria Nile, enjoy view of hippos swimming, the basking Nile crocodiles lined up along the river banks, lots of aquatic birds and more. Later when you get to the base of the falls, take the best shots of the waterfall then start the trek to view it on the top.
Day 5: Day trip to Kibale NP via Fort Portal
After breakfast, expect to spend long hours about 7-8 hrs to connect to Kibale NP where 13 primates live that make this 795sq.kms forest park a true primate capital of the world with 1500 chimpanzees. Lunch will be served to you but on arrival at Fort Portal city then you connect to the park afterwards.
Day 6: A day chimpanzee trekking experience Kibale
Enjoy a hefty breakfast, leave the lodge fit for 2-4 hours’ chimpanzee trekking adventure in the Kibale Forest. The park has abundant primates besides chimpanzees to be spotted plus birds. Upon locating chimpanzees in Kibale Forest, you will have the best of learning about their behaviors, habits, then take pictures before you walk back to enjoy lunch.
In the evening, leave the lodge once again but this time, Bigodi Wetland nature walk will treat you with astonishing sightings of more primates, birds, butterflies and other mammal species.
Day 7: Kibale to Ishasha Queen Elizabeth NP to Bwindi
Leave Kibale early enough after breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth NP where a short game drive will be conducted at Ishasha sector in the Southern side. Enjoy view of the tree climbing lions, plus other big game, antelopes and then you have a relaxed evening after you have arrived at Bwindi.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking experience 2-6 hours in Bwindi
Bwindi National Park lies in the Southwestern Uganda and briefing on gorilla trekking rules will be done at its offices. Allocation of gorilla groups will be done early and at 8:00am, you will begin your walk through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to locate gorillas-
expected to take 2 to 6 hrs. A sold one hour will be spent face to face with gorillas then you walk back to have a relaxed afternoon, and later, you will connect to Batwa community for guided cultural walk/tour.
Day 9: Lake Mburo NP in Kiruhura
Enjoy a delicious breakfast, after, leave Kabale for Lake Mburo National Park in Kiruhura- this is 6-7 hours’ drive. Lake Mburo NP is 370sq.kms and hosts 3 of the big 5 game- leopards, lions, buffaloes; large population of antelopes like impalas, elands, topis, waterbucks; warthogs, zebras, 350 bird species. Enjoy evening boat cruise 2-3 hours for you to sight variety of aquatic life like hippos, crocodiles, birds then relaxation at the lodge.
Day 10: Departure from Lake Mburo NP for Kampala
Go for a game drive or horseback riding/cycling to see wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, antelopes, birds and more in Lake Mburo NP. Drive through the park as you exit for Kampala, but make a stop visit at Equator crossing.
