Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Murchison Falls NP wildlife trip, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
A journey to Murchison Falls NP begins early after breakfast and you drive for about 5-6 hours from Kampala via Luweero. En-route, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola will be your stopover point to enjoy rhino tracking experience- about 2 hours. Besides rhinos, there are lots of other wildlife to expect to encounter on rhino tracking including warthogs, antelopes, plus birds. After rhino watching, lunch will be provided in Masindi town then you reach Murchison Falls NP through Kichumbanyobo gate in the Southern side.
Day 2: Murchison Falls day game drive, launch cruise, top of the falls view
Enjoy breakfast, then leave early for 2-3 hours’ game drive with guide and you will be sighting the park’s wildlife such as leopards, lions, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, warthogs, birds, buffaloes, antelopes and more. Get back to your lodge for lunch and some refreshments, then embark on a 2:00pm boat cruise via the Victoria Nile connecting to the bottom of Murchison Falls. This will give you a chance to see lots of hippos, aquatic birds, the basking Nile crocodiles, etc. At the base of the falls, take a trek to enjoy its view on the top- see how it squeezes itself into a narrow rock of 7-8m then breaks down 43m.
Day 3: Day game drive & Kibale Forest NP trip
After breakfast, leave your accommodation for a short game drive to see wildlife you missed during the previous game viewing safari. Later, exit Murchison Falls NP navigating via Hoima oil city to Fort Portal tourism city for lunch then to Kibale National Park in the western side a home to all 13 primate species- including a total of 1500 chimpanzees.
Day 4: Day chimpanzee tracking Kibale & Bigodi
Begin the day early with breakfast, leave for briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules at Kanyanchu and also to have a guide to lead you. At 8:00am, leave Kanyanchu tourist centre for about 2-4 hours guided chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale and this covers 1 hour given for face to face encounter, photo taking. Lunch will be had after returning from Kibale Forest then you will visit Bigodi Swamp for primate walk- view incredible primates such as red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, other mammals and birds.
Day 5: Kibale- Bwindi NP via Fort Portal-Kasese 6-7hrs
Leave Kibale NP Kabarole district via Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park to see tree climbing lions at Ishasha area and this is during a mini game drive. You will also see other wildlife such as elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, birds and then settle for a bush lunch before you proceed to Bwindi for evening refreshments, dinner and night sleep in the lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking
Gather Bwindi offices for briefing on gorilla trekking rules and gorilla family allocation, then at 8:00am, leave for actual trek to view gorillas. This will be a challenging trek and you will need a bottled water, snacks, walking stick, rain jacket then you enjoy 2-6 hours’ trek which includes 1 hour of magical encounter upon locating gorillas in the wild. Lunch will be had when you return to the accommodation, and relax a little before you take a walk to Batwa community for cultural tour.
Day 7: Get back to Kampala/Entebbe
Have early breakfast, after, meet the driver for transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe, but lunch stopover will be made in Mbarara. Photography at Equator or purchase some souvenirs at Mpambire drum making village then proceed to Kampala/Entebbe.
