Itinerary Overview

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali City Tour
Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and you embark on your 6 days primate and wildlife adventure safari in Rwanda. You will start with a tour around Kigali city giving insight of the beautiful city and learning about its notable sites such as stops at the Genocide Memorial Site, where over 250 thousand Tutsi and Hutu victims are buried, local marketplaces, and other locations throughout one of the world’s most dynamic cities. You will then enjoy a local meal in one of the local markets. In the evening, you will have an opportunity to experience Kigali’s nightlife. Following that, you will head to bed with a peaceful nap after all of the day’s activities and meals.
Day 2: Transfer To Volcanoes National Park
After a delicious breakfast, you will drive for around 2-3 hours to Volcanoes National Park; home to the endangered mountain gorillas. You will arrive at the lodge and check in and after you will go to cave exploring in the Musanze caverns where lunch will be served. This cave is huge, well-designed, and home to bat colonies. You will walk for an hour in it with flashlights, following the instructions of the guide from beginning to conclusion. After this, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at your lodge and after drive to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. You will then be allocated to only one habituated gorilla family to trek in a group of 8 visitors and one professional park ranger guide will take you through your adventure. You will then start your trek for about 2- 6 hours depending on your speed of hiking, nature of gorilla habitat and where these creatures are found in the course of the day. Once you have found a group assigned to you, only one hour is given to you to explore their behaviors, body gestures and take their photos. You will then return to lodge to have some bit of relaxation and in the evening you will go for a nature walk to Twin Lakes; Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo or simply remain at the lodge to have enough rest for the next day’s adventure.
Day 4: Transfer To Akagera National Park
After a hot cup of tea or coffee we shall bid farewell to Volcanoes National Park and transfer to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park. Along the journey, we shall have a stop for lunch and cultural experience before we proceed to the route leading to the hub of flora and fauna is lined with plants, dotted homesteads, and other features. The receptionist at the lodge where you will stay two nights will greet you warmly and lead you to your room for some rest and relaxation.
Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Cruise
Have breakfast, after begin an early guided day game drive for 2-3 hours and in a 4×4 drive vehicle enjoy excellent view of elephants, rhinos, zebras, buffaloes, leopards, lions, the Masai giraffes, impalas, roan antelopes, topis, birds, warthogs, and others. Return from savanna plains to have lunch, relax then connect to Lake Ihema for an afternoon guided launch/boat cruise 2-3 hours’ experience of viewing hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds, etc. after this, we shall drive to the lodge for a relaxation over a camp fire and call a day.
Day 6: Departure
Today marks the end of our 6 days primate and wildlife safari in Rwanda. After breakfast, we shall transfer to Kigali where you can buy some lunch and souvenirs shoppingbefore driving to the airport for our departure flights.
