GORILLA TRACKING TOUR – 5 DAYS

Itinerary Overview

This 5 days magnificent adventure trip brings you to the world’s actual primate capital, a country with one of the world’s greatest concentrations of unique primate species. Your cousins in the wild will captivate you with their appearance, sound and joyful temperament. Mountain gorilla trekking, chimp trekking, golden monkey trekking and other activities take place over the course of five days.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up From Entebbe & Transfer To Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, your driver guide will meet you from your hotel in Entebbe for your 5 days Gorilla tracking tour.  You will embark on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park which is nick named the primate city. It is a long journey of approximately 7-8 hours, with views of bustling towns, a diverse range of plantations, homesteads and stunning scenery with lunch served enroute. We shall arrive the lodge late in the evening and retire for the night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast we drive to Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a rewarding chimp trekking adventure. The activity begins with a pre-trekking briefing during which ranger guides will explain the trekking dos and don’ts. The park is also home to many more primates, including vervet monkeys, baboons, white and black Colobus monkeys, and others, can be seen in the forest, as well as plants, forest creatures, and a diversity of plant species. 

Upon meeting  a  chimpanzee family, you will be allowed one hour in the presence of human closest cousins as you witness their jungle life.  After the hiking exercise, you will go to the lodge for lunch before spending the evening at Bigodi Swamp, wandering while observing baboons, birds, and locals go about their daily business. Return to the lodge for dinner and an evening relaxation.

Day 3: Transfer To Mgahinga National Park

Enjoy an early breakfast and after bid farewell the primate city and depart towards the southern portion of the country, passing through lush plantations, rolling hills, and more. Stop for lunch en trip. We shall arrive in the evening at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda’s smallest national park. Proceed to a warm welcome at the lodge; check in for an evening relaxation, dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking & Batwa Pygmy’s Encounter

Following a delicious breakfast at the lodge, you will select your trekking equipment and go to the park headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing by trained ranger guides, who will discuss the trekking dos and don’ts, as well as the particular characteristics of gorillas. It takes around thirty minutes, and then you’re off to the home of gorillas, where they spend their mornings and afternoons feeding and their evenings resting. In the forest, you will encounter birds, other primates such as monkeys and baboons among others. 

Once you meet a gorilla family, you will be given one hour for photos and intensively analyzing the Gorillas’ unique mannerisms for example how gorillas maintain hygiene, interact, feed, and so on. You will return to the lodge for lunch after your gorilla encounter, followed by an afternoon of cultural performance with the Batwa the indigenous people who lived and survived in the forest.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking, Transfer Back To Entebbe

Following an early breakfast we shall transfer to the park offices for a briefing about the golden monkey trekking rules before heading into the thick bamboo forests to search for the monkeys. The trekking takes about 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the previous movement. You will be given one hour to spent and experience with the monkeys, at this point feel free to pull out your cameras and capture your  experience with golden monkeys as they play and jump from one branch to another and how they feed their young ones. After the trek, your guide will pick you and you start your journey to Entebbe international airport or hotel in preparation for your trip to your next destination. There will be a lunch stop along the way near the equator, where you will be able to observe demonstrations at the marginal line that divides the world into two hemispheres for around thirty minutes. You will be impressed by the bustling cities, lush foliage, and more and this will mark the end of our 5 Days Uganda Primate Tour.
