Itinerary Overview
Enjoy a captivating experience with chimpanzees with this 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Tour in Uganda’s primate capital – Kibale Forest National Park. Chimpanzee habituation unlike the regular chimpanzee trekking allows you to follow up the chimpanzees from morning until evening when they build new nests witness the intricate process of getting the primates used to human presence. This behind the scenes provides a unique experience as visitors document behaviors, vocalizations and social interactions.
The tour also offers an opportunity to visit Bigodi swamp which is home to a number of primates amazing caves that are surrounded by the creator lakes with associated geographical features such as the breast-like pointed pillars stalactites and the stalagmites locally called the “Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru”
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest, Amabeere ga Nyunamwiru Excursion
In the morning, we shall start our journey to Kibale forest for our chimpanzee habituation tour. It is a long day’s drive so we shall have en route lunch in Fort portal. We shall proceed with our journey to our destination driving through beautiful scenic views of tea plantations, local markets, green mountain back drops and people and their culture along the road.
In Fort portal we shall visit the amazing caves that are surrounded by the creator lakes. Inside these beautiful caves are historical myths about the Bachwezi people with associated geographical features such as the breast-like pointed pillars stalactites and the stalagmites locally called the “Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru” This mythical story about the Bachwezi people and their culture that will blow your mind. You will retire to your booked lodge and prepare for the following day which will equally be an exciting day as you spend time with the Chimps.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Habituation, Bigodi Swamp Walk
Wake up to an early breakfast and drive towards Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of Chimpanzee habituation. We have to be very early to meet the Chimps before they wake up from their nests to embark on a breakfast foraging. You will then follow these animals throughout the day. In the forest you will encounter black and white colobus monkeys, the bush baby, grey checked mangabey, red tailed monkeys as well as the different bird species that you meet along your trekking journey. There are also about 138 species of birds including the black bee eater and the crowned eagle that have been recorded in Kibale National Park.
After you have met the chimpanzees, you will be allowed 4 hours to learn about them, watch them feed and interact with one another in their jungle life. During this time, we shall take as many pictures and videos for this memorable encounter with the chimpanzees. Your guide driver will pick you and you drive back to the lodge for a late lunch.
In the evening, you will visit the Bigodi swamp which is privately owned by the local community. This swamp is home to more than 10 primate species and also a remarkable spot for bird watching; animals like the Warthogs can also be seen in this swamp.

Day 3: Transfer Back To Entebbe
Today marks the end of our 3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Tour in Kibale. Have breakfast in the morning and prepare to check out, leave the primate city behind and start your journey to Entebbe. Being a journey, we shall have some stopover for lunch and stretching. We shall have another stopover at the Uganda Equator for a photo and video moment. We can also get some souvenirs to take home. Proceed with our journey to Entebbe in your hotel or to the airport for our flight back home.
