I Day Kampala City Tour

Overview

Known for being the largest and Capital City of Uganda, Kampala is also a renowned tourist destination with numerous must-see historical and cultural sites. Tours of this City are usually undertaken at the start or end of Uganda safaris to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Murchison falls and Lake Mburo National Parks although some travellers explore it as an independent destination.

For tours of Kampala City, expect to visit historical, economic. Religious/spiritual and cultural tourist sites in addition to amusement centers as well as a chance to experience the City nightlife which we shall unfortunately not experience during this short tour. Time permitting, expect to visit Kasubi Royal Tombs, Kabaka’s Palace plus Idi Amin’s Torture Chambers and Kabaka’s Lake in Mengo, Uganda Museum, Namugongo martyrs Shrine, Namirembe and Rubaga Cathedral, Uganda National Mosque and one of the City Markets (Nakasero or Owino Market) among others.

Detailed itinerary

Early morning have a briefing with the private safari guide at the agreed meeting point (Hotel or any other place) to take you through the itinerary-different places to be explored during the 1 day Kampala City Tour.

By 7:00am the tour begins and you will experience the crazy traffic of the City as all categories of people start arriving the City for their different hustles. Worry not because the guide is obviously conversant with the City, different places of interest and even pay for entrance fees for these tourist sites. Visit Kasubi Tombs, Kabaka’s Palace, the torture Chambers used by Dictator Idi Amin Dada and the largest man-made Lake in the country. There will be a lunch break between the Tour with visits to Uganda Museum, Uganda National Park and Uganda Martyrs Shrine if time allows.

In the evening you will have an opportunity to shop for souvenir/art and crafts before ending the short City Tour. To have the best experience during our 1 day Kampala City Tour, we advise carry some extra cash for tipping and buying souvenir, dressing modestly (avoid skimpy clothing as it is perceived as being irresponsible), wear light clothing (t- shirt), have a good camera, sunglasses, wide brim hat and sunscreen
