Overview

This is one of the memorable African safari where you will hike the only world's highest free standing mountain and the tallest in Africa that is Mount Kilimanjaro located in Tanzania. The trails to the highest peak are well demarcated and offers the best experience as you will encounter different vegetation zones. After you will fly to the pearl of African that is Uganda and head to the home of endangered mountain gorillas which is Bwindi national Park and encounter these rare and beautiful great apes. The experience last for not more than 5 hours including an hour while in their presence.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1. Arrival in Arusha Tanzania and spend a night at a hotel

Welcome to this great safari and Tanzania at large, the driver guide will immediately offer you a briefing about this great 12 Days Kilimanjaro hike & Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Safari and after, he will take you to a booked hotel for your dinner. This will be followed by an option of massage parlor in case you are interested to get rid of journey fatigue.

Day 2. Transfer to Moshi (Machame gate to Machame camp)

After breakfast, a short drive to Moshi and be dropped at Machame gate where you will attend briefing with fellow hikers, acquire some materials you will need to use in case you did not carry some, book a Potter that will help you to carry some luggage, sign in the book and then start the hike. You will be required to carry enough drinking water and packed lunch, as the hike takes about 4 to 5 hours, you will pass through the forests and find yourself at Machame hurt where you will spend a night Camping.

Day 3. Hike to Shira camp from Machame camp

Have breakfast and after proceed ascending for another 5 to 6 hours as you pass through the savannah rainforest. You will also have your 0acked lunch which you will enjoy as picnic lunch in the wild and then you will find yourself at Shira camp which will be the end of the day. The night will be spent on this camp relaxing wit camp fire.

Day 4. Hike from Shira camp to Barranco camp

This is the most challenging day which needs to be prepared earlier enough, take breakfast and then you will proceed hiking the daunting lava tower. This trail requires a slow pace hiking and you will be passing through sandy areas and semi-glacier areas. For about 4 to 5 hours, you will be at Barranco camp in the afternoon for refreshments and dinner. Hiking to Barranco camp is so rewarding and exciting moments that will create everlasting memories.

Day 5. Ascend to Barafu camp from Barranco camp

This point is to cold which will require hot beverage that you will take in the morning and this will be either a cup of tea or coffee which will help you to warm your body. Thereafter, you will head to Barafu camp which will be another challenging day. Barufu is a Swahili word meaning ice and this means that the place is extremely cold with ice or freezing zone. The trail involves climbing the Barranco wall through Karanga valley and at this point, you will enjoy your picnic lunch as you enjoy the beautiful landscape. Proceed later on and you will spend a night at Barafu camp.

Day6. Hike to Uhuru peak from Barafu and then descend to Mweka camp

Wake up as early as midnight 00:00hrs by a call and then straight away start the hike with a help of the headlight totche or lamp. The hike will begin at around 01:00hrs after warming your body with either hot water or tea/coffee depending on your choice. You will reach Stella point after 5 to 6 hours and then, you will proceed to more and last challenging moment that need about 2 hours hike to reach Uhuru peak which is the highest point in Africa. Shout and be gland, take memorable photos and then descend back to Barafu camp where you will be served with lunch and then proceed and descend to Mweka camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7. Descend further to Mweka gate and then transfer to Arusha

Have a camping breakfast and carry all your luggage with a help of potters, descend further to Mweka gate and sign out, thank the potters for the great work. The driver guide will be ready to take you back to Arusha where you will spend a night as you prepare for another great destinations which is Bwindi national Park in Uganda the pearl of Africa.

Day 8. Fly to Uganda through Entebbe International Airport

Have breakfast in Arusha Tanzania and then you will be taken to the airport. Fly to Uganda through Entebbe International Airport and incase time allows, you will visit city based attractions like the cathedral churches, mosques, local daily markets, art galleries, Uganda museum among others. You will be taken to the hotel booked in Kampala City

Day 9. Transfer to Bwindi national park and stop at the Uganda equator

Have breakfast at agreed time at the balcony of your hotel while having a great view of Kampala city. Check out and the driver guide will take you Bwindi national Park, a great conservation area in Uganda that homes the endangered mountain gorillas together with Mgahinga national park. You will therefore have a stopover at the Uganda equator where you will have a great time for photos, look around African art and design and after proceed with the journey. This will be a great day as you enjoy the landscape of different areas like the savannahs in Mbarara, the terraced land of Ankole-Kigezi, valleys and flat lands among others. You will arrive at the park lake evening and check in for your accommodation.

Day 10. Gorilla trekking day and afternoon leisure

Have a great time during this day where you will take breakfast at the lodge and then drive to the park headquarters for briefing. You will be told about the rules and regulations while trekking and among others include, don't litter the forest premises, don't use flash light cameras, don't trek the apes in case you have cough and flu, don't make noise while trekking, keep a distance of about 8 meters from the gorillas among others. You will head into the forest with a help of the park ranger guide and start the search. The trekking will last for about 5 hours including a great an hour while you are in front these great apes. This an hour will create memorable experience. You will therefore, head back to Lodge and relax for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Day 11. Transfer back to Kampala

Head back to Kampala and you will have a stopover the Equator where you will be able to enjoy the last photos of this point, have a late lunch depending on the arrival time, buy some souvenirs to go with at home and then proceed with the journey to Kampala. On arrival, you will have your dinner followed with an option of massaging or night life in Kampala the capital city of Uganda.

Day 12. Fly back home

Have a leisure breakfast at the hotel and then you will head to Entebbe International Airport. In case time allows, you will take a visit of a few attractions like the reptiles Village in Entebbe, Uganda Wildlife education Centre, art and craft centers among others. The safari will end after being dropped at the airport.
